Inyo County, and Mono County
Desert tortoise, Mohave ground squirrel, Burrowing owl, Swainson's hawk, Prairie falcon, LeConte's thrasher are just a few of the special status species observed on our bank's lands.
We are listed on the Army Corps of Engineers RIBITS system and are fully approved.
The Mojave Desert Tortoise Conservation Bank is one of the largest tortoise conservation banks
in California and the U.S. and is made up of 4,658 acres of preserved habitat.
It constitutes 8 large Sites that span San Bernardino County, ranging from 320 to 875 acres, and averaging 640 acres. The Mojave Desert Tortoise Conservation Bank is termed an "umbrella bank" by USFWS on the federal RIBITs banking website, due to its size and large Service Area, and is broken down into sections.
It is also listed in CDFW's Region 6 Section's mitigation banking website. According to CDFW and USFWS, The Mojave Desert Tortoise Conservation Bank's service area covers San Bernardino County as well as large portions of Riverside County, Imperial County, Inyo County, and Mono County.
